How Pay by Link works
Understand the Pay by Link journey and find Merchant Portal procedures for creating, sharing and managing payment links.
How Pay by Link works
Create and share payment links for your organisation, then review each link and its associated order in the Merchant Portal. Filter the payment-link list by date, status, currency or outlet to find an entry.
- Switch the Merchant Organisation, Organisational Unit, or Outlet from the Profile menu.
See Navigate Organisation Hierarchy.
ImportantYou must configure Pay by Link before sending links.

What you can do here
- Create a standard payment link and choose email or SMS as the communication channel.
- Copy or share an existing link through messaging apps, social media or email.
- Filter and search payment links, then open their associated order details.
- Resend a link using the resend panel. See Manage Payment Links for the procedure and outstanding verification notes.
- Create a reusable OneLink with a fixed or customer-entered amount.
Key concepts
- Link — A secure, unique URL to a hosted payment page.
- Expiry — Set when creating the link; expired links cannot be paid.
- Link status and payment outcome — Filter links by open or closed status. Open the associated order details to review payment information; do not treat link status as confirmation of a successful payment.
- Payment attempts — Configure Payment attempts by transaction type in Configuration. This guide does not specify a maximum.
- Email details and link settings — Set sender details, the email subject and logo URL in Configuration. Set link expiry in days, payment attempts and an optional terms and conditions URL by transaction type.
